They had the membership page partially up and functioning until I complained around the 20th of January and told them they needed to take it completely down. I consider that fraudulent.
They also told me they were hoping to continue until after Summit. So, if they were in such bad shape that they couldn't make it until May, they should never have accepted any money in January.
I also told them that it was ridiculous to wait for Summit. Conferences are costly to put on. I worked with Joe Welinske on his conferences for 11 years or more, starting with his 2nd conference. Sharon and I were his constant conference people.
I was fighting with them to get our share of the operating expenses they took for 2024 dues. They never paid any of the chapters the fees members paid when they checked a box saying that you wanted funds to go to the chapter you were a member of.
I don't know how many people were paid employees, but they should have been laying people off months ago, and I don't think that happened either. I don't want my chapter's scholarship money going into their general fund to pay off bills when they mismanaged the organization. We have it walled off as it is a trust, and I am checking what to do about it. It is even stated in the papers that it can't be used for operating expenses.
Anyhow, I need to go back to sleep. Just venting, but if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I just paid membership joining dues for one of my team a couple days ago, but I'm in the process of asking our finance team to dispute the charge with them.
If STC knew they were doing this, they should have suspended membership applications a while ago, even if under the guise of "processing issues."
While I will miss STC, that last action leaves a very bad taste as their parting gesture.
